ok, my time to make myself look stupid too. Yes, I too had problems with installs once, and still do every now and then. I had a MMats Amp, (wretched thing) that all of a sudden stopped working but the mids and highs amps still worked. I checked all the connections on the amp and speakers, still nothing. The power light wouldnt come on or anything. so I pulled it out(w/o checking it in another car) and sent it to mmats. while i was waiting the 3 months to get it back, i was looking around and it so happens that the wire from the front battery had came uncrimped from the ring terminal and the alternator had not been charging the back batteries. I checked my optima's in the back and they were around 10v. So we figured it out that the batteries in the back just didn't have enough juice to push the mmats amp. thats what the diagnosis sheet from MMats said too when I got it back 3 months later.
Just thought I would let you all know how stupid I am too.
