Many people suggest using interior sirens to discourage a thief from sitting in the car or attempting to disable the siren. I know that DEI and other companies create "pain-generating sirens" as well. But my question is - are these sirens made to hurt even if the thief is wearing earplugs? Thanks!

No, these sirens emit i high pitch that is VERY annoying to the human ear, but with a pair of earplugs, they are no big deal.

True, but most thieves don't want to have their ears plugged to where they can't hear the OWNER of the car coming out to kick the crap out of them, so I don't think you have to worry much about that one. hehe

I haven't seen many thieves with earplugs either I was just saying that they don't actually do anything but make a high pitched noise that is annoying, and easily blocked. I have actually had people ask me if the "pain generators" they have heard about will damage their insides (crazy people around here)

hehe, yeah, I've had that question quite a few times too. They're so scared that they'll get hurt by it since we call them "pain generators".

I guess if I installed a big metal spike that shoots up through the seat using compressed air or something, THAT would be a pain generator AND do some damage to their insides. hehe

I find that a regular alarm siren is much louder and more effective. Paired up with a large american car horn and the theif will stripe his pants!

Ok if you want the ultimate theft deterant I removed and rebuilt a set of stun guns for a friend and mounted the two probes on the underside of his door handle. Not many people pulled them twice.
