Alrighty, so we get the Ungo MS8300 all done in the Dakota R/T. I have, among other neat goodies, 3 sirens on it - yes just 3 for now..
Anyways, two are typical car alarm sirens but one is a mechanical type. We had all three of these plus 2 more on the Avenger.
During testing we decided to set the thing off. I was suitably impressed with the racket but could NOT turn it off! The system completely ignored the remote - we had to resort to using the ignition/valet to stop it.
A second test confirmed that it will not register the remote while alarming. My first suspicion is the mechanical siren since someone else stated they had a problem with theirs causing so much EMI that it clouded the remote's signal. Unfortunately I ran out of time to explore this much tonite.

Any thoughts?

Oh yes, you hit the nail on the head. I too have, and still use a mechanical siren. It sounds like WWIII.
I have the same problem.

We've had the same problem here on several occasions. Usually when stuffing a siren inside the vehicle within a relatively close proximity to the brain/antenna.

Some alarms are very sensitive to this, some are not.

Removed the mechanical siren and the problem stopped. All I can figure is that in the Avenger we had it in the fenderwell with perforated metal all around it (so nobody could touch it) and the antenna extension was farther away. This may have shielded it and it may have been far enuf away to avoid problems.
Next I will relocate the mechanical to the back corner of the bed opposite the antenna to see if this fixes the problem....
