I have a 03' Dodge Durango and I am having problems with the remote starter and yes I have the grey key and I have the bypass and yes it is as close to the ignition as i can get it. Sometimes it starts after using the truck for a while and then there are times it won't start. The only prob I noticed is when trying to use the remote start the gas gauge will not move on the times it dosn't start then on the times when it does start it will move.. PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HELP I Dunno Posts: 27 | From: Baltimore,MD | Registered: Oct 2007

Sounds like am ignition or acc. wire isnt getting powered up .Test all the wires with a dmm . Make sure you are getting 12 volts . I assume your truck starts everytime with the key . Make sure all your connections to the ign. starter ,and acc. wires are good .If you t-tapped them this may be the problem (bad connection ,aka not 12 volts ). i usually strip back the wire insulation ,take a small screwdriver and probe it in the middle of the wire ,making an oval opening .Then take the wire from the remote starter strip that back like an inch or so ,and then insert the wire ,and wrap it around the wire ,take a pair of pliers and crimp the connection ,Then you can soider the connection, or just use electrical tape ,tape it up good .this will give you the best connection. If all connections are good ,when it doesnt start use the dmm and check the outputs of the remote starter , you could have a bad internal or if you added ,and external relay ,not powering up all the time .But most if the time i find bad connections , thats why i wrap them . Hope this helps .

I had a bad experiece with that year dodge, this a a question and hopefully a solution. A customer had the same prob, on the onstall I soldered all heavy gauge and did the NORM for install, however, there were two heavy gauge wires coming the the ign. switch heading towards the fire wall behind the HVAC. The customers were spanish so communication was prob, any way, look and see if that is the same situation, my best guess was there was something up with the factory wire, so someone did a quick fix. I used my DMM and remote start..... worked perfect, until I pulled on those 2 strange heavy ga. wire then it shut down. I am just trying to give a real life prob with that same truck. To fix the prob, dropped the dash, went strait to the ign. as well as the constant power for the alarm, ran 8 ga to the batt. fused@ 60 amp strait to the sat relay, never had probs from that again. As an installer, it was embarasing, but, you never know what someone else has done to a vehichle, just look for two or one rouge wire... This is also asssuming that you did solder and check all connections before using this advice. Please post .
