Okay, I am setting up a deal with a local shop to where I am going to do all of there security installs for them. My question is, what should I charge. The shop is located away form other shops. The nearest shop is about a 35min drive or so. Not much compatition. I am wondering what I could charge the shop so they could mark it up a little and make some as well. Granted, they are also making money off the sale of the equipment itself. So, what do you guys think? A list and what price would be great!!

well figure around 75$ basic install on a alarm, then you need to add for door locks, trunk popper, add on mods, and alram bypass for remote start.

Yeah I know. I was thinking 75 for alarm or keyless. 100 for remote start. 25 for bypass. 50 per door on adding power locks. 225 for alarm, keyless, and remote start. Extra for stuff like pizo siren, trunk pop, windows etc. Sound like a far deal? I need to make it worth my while to go out there and do these installs.

Oh why do you have to put me in this.
Best Buy jacks up parts prices because Free Install is killing Mobile Electronics as we know it. $5 kits sell for $20 $1 antenna adaptors sell for $12 $3 relays sell for $15 but the labor is fee
Are they going to markup the labor? Is this your cut per alarm? We charge: $75 keyless $100 remote start $150 basic alarm $200 remote start alarm

I am responsible if the damaged/fried can be put back on me. I have been doing this long enough to know what I can and can't do. Not worried about that. Yes, my cut is per alarm install.

If the shop won't insure you, don't do it. The customer would go after the shop in case of damage. The shop will go after you. Experience or not Accidents are called Accidents for a reason.
One of my former installers had to buy a $300 BCM for a girlfriends father. I would trust this guy with my own car but you never know.
Anytime you work on the side you risk serious loss. Extra money here and there can burn you in the end. Be careful and talk to the shop about insurance.

We have an installler who was doing a side job for a friend at his house. The car got damaged (backed into a tree). So, the $100 the installer made will nowhere near cover the $1200 it's gonna cost to fix the car.
I've been installing professionaly now since 1995. I feel very comfortable in my own skill, but even I have been known to crack a dry-rotted miata dash. Even our best installers slip sometimes. Thank God it's rare, but man, it happens.

well, id tell him you'll do it for 50 a car plus, extra for extras.remote start charge 75. it'll give the shop owner that room for profit.
