Is the Hornet 554T worth the money? I can get it for $180 do think it worth that much? Would I be able to get something better for that money with a Pager? The Pager is only 1000ft range is that any good in a mall?

The 554T and the 790XV (both made by DEI) are both good alarms, and I've installed them both. I kinda prefer the 554T because it comes w/ 2 remotes ( 1 LCD and 1 regular). The 790XV only uses the LCD remotes. BTW the 554T and the 790XV remotes are not compatible.

Feature wise, the alarms are almost exactly alike. The 554T does have a timer option on the remote though. Range is slightly less on the 554T though.

actually the range is cut 1/2 with the hornet.

also the clifford matrix rs3 is the same as the viper straight down to the remotes.

I have installed the 554T and the Clifford RS3. Range is a little shorter but still good on the 554t. You do get 2 remotes which is very cool with the 554t, as well as it's LCD remote is really sweet looking while I want to wipe my butt with the RS3 remote everytime I see it. Features are very similar on both.
For $180 thats a steal on the 554t.

Will I be able to extend the range on my Alarm? Isn't there like a different antenna I could plug in to make it have similiar range as the Viper, & CLifford?

Will I be able to monitor my car from inside of a mall? About how far will I Be able to go before signal is lost.

no

and most likely not. i have played around with the hornet, seeing our other store "used" to sell it before we "upgraded" them to the the rs3.

the rs3 is the same remote as the viper, which is dei's flagship line (viper) the hornet has a nicer looking remote, but to be honest all the remotes, including the cheap crap, have ugly remotes, and they all look cheap!

but if you want a gadget go for the hornet, if you want something a little bit better get the viper or rs3, at least when you come out of a movie theater or mall, and you find your car was messed with you were warned by the remote beforehand.

So your saying that the 554T is a reliable alarm but I wont be able to pick up any tampering from in buildings?
