I have a clifford IG 6000 installed and I was wondering do i need to buy the clifford remote start, Intellistart, or can I add a cheaper different one, say from viper or someting?

As long as the Clifford has an open aux. output (which I am sure it does) you can add any remote start sysem to it. Just keep in mind that most alarm systems do not have the effective range capabilities as remote starts, you may want to look into an extended range antenna if range is a concern.
