I'm going to be installing a remote start/keyless entry on a '99 grand prix gt. I need to know if it has a factory alarm and whether or not we need the bypass module to do it. Thanks for any help you can give...

So I just need to tie those wires in with the lock and unlock wires? That would make the factory alarm arm and disarm? I just want to make sure that I do this correctly since it's not my car. Thanks for your help.

To get it to remote start you will need a module. If it has the chip, a resistor and relay will work, if it has the new style youll need the DEI 555l or equivelant.

If you are talking about the chip in the key there is none. It just has a normal style GM key. I have done remote starts before, but they were on older, more simple cars. Thanks for the help.

Its fairly simple to install. Just make sure you start the car with the key after the module is in to get the right reading, before you remote start it. Heheh..

Or you could wrap thin wire around an extra key several times tightly, then link it to the ignition coil where you wrap it around several times tightly(creating a circuit). This will bypass it without buying anything. Only problem with this is the transponder is useless since the circuit is always intact. I dont think its a huge deal if you have a kill installed. If its a big deal to you then wire that circuit I previously mentioned through a relay. Wire it open and have the alarm send a pulse to close it when the car attempts to start. Only problem I've ran into with this is sometimes the pulse doesnt leave the circuit intact long enough. So the car wont crank it self completely. If you have a kill though I wouldnt worry about it.

are you kidding me? the transponder system is far more secure than any (except the clifford wireless) ign or starter kill. besides, use the 555G and you don't give up the extra key($$$$) and it will start in all temperatures. Transponder keys tend not to work well in the cold.
