i've been doing ungo again for a year now. before that, i was working for the only dealer in our area that was authorized to sell ungo (pre-clairion days, early to mid '90s). this past year, i've done alot of the ungo 2007, it is their version of the two way alarm/remote start. does anyone else have any experiance with them as far as installation or as a user? i have a very vivid opinion on this system, but i want to see what yuns think of it first.

ok, thanks for the feedback! now, here's my opinion. when i first started doing ungo, back in '92, i was overwhelmed by their quality and features, along with their great tech support team. back then, the ungo was a high end alarm, one that you had to pay a little extra for, compared to an excaliber. i remember when the line got pulled from us because we would not sign on to be clairion dealers('96-'97 i believe). it then went to an already existing clairion dealer at that time. the tech support team always sounded soo depressed about the change. i guess they saw what was comming. this 2007 two way alarm/rs has the be the biggest piece of junk ever. i think i have done maybey 20 of them. by then, the returns started. none from installer or user error. all rerturns due to manufacturer retardedness. this can not be the same company i once knew and loved. when we started doing ungo again about a year ago, i was ampin the company up, talkin about how sweet they were and the low return rate. now, i am sittin here lookin like some crack monkey for saying all those great things about a company who's product is so horrible, i have to keep a freshly returned unit in stock to replace the next customers unit when it comes back in a couple of months. the only way out of this endless loop is to switch them out to compustars. i apologize if it seems like i am bashing a manufacturer, but this product is really that bad, and i doubt that anyone will disagree. yall mods, don't be too hard on me for this one. i'll understand if this gets edited, deleted, or closed.

it souldnt get edited or deleted. it is truthful. if who ever does that they had better have actual experience with said products. if not then leave it cause people need to know.
funny how you mention that. a company in Cali, TRC, we were using them. it was great remote starts. decent pricing, easy installs, spark plug wire wrapping. then came a newer version 4 button. not bad the first few batches. then bam all of a sudden they were going into valet by them self with no program buttons plugged in. some were just dying for no reason. bad fuses when shipped. then they switched to a extreme version. suppost to be high tech and all that. well we got them and they did smart sense like claimed nor spark plug wire wrapped. then after programming the tach we had problems with over cranking on every unit. no matter what i did. i could let it warm up all day and drop it in gear and it would still over crank.
so your dealing with the same stuff i did. but finally got sick of it and returned alot and now with alot better company.

our local dealer here has also said to stay away from them, been nothing but hassles. the only gripes about dei that is said around here is their proximity sensor, needs readjusted all the time. my 790xv viper works flawlessly!

Our story is almost the same as yours. A few things I can point out: Ungo was great. Now it is not. We returned $2000+ worth of ungo this past year for credit. I returned ms2007's over and over and over again. I will never deal with that crap again. Every single ms2007 we installed, except one, has been returned to us multiple times. We have REMOVED every single one of them and swapped to the compustars at OUR DAMN COST!!!! I believe *most* of the issues with the ms2007 stem from the horribly designed two piece (laying on top of each other) pc board inside the remote. After about 5 remotes in my own vehicle, I finally found one that worked every time.
Some common problems: -Alarm triggers upon hitting the arm/disarm button (like panic mode) -Incorrect signals for arm/disarm -Incorrect signal for remote start confirmation -Transmission range reduced to 6" from the antenna -and more.....
I should add, Clarion had a few other serious problems this past year also.
The overhead 7 & 8 monitors were factory defective and parts are still 2+ months on back order for fixes.
The dxz925 cd player had a "bad" micro switch in it which would cause the face to fold up and down all on it's own.
Kind of troublesome.
My one suggestion: Get out of the endless circle of alarm swapping ASAP!!!!!! In the long run, your losses will be far greater by having all that ****ty product out on the road than it would be to take the 3-5 hours to do a full swap on the systems. Been there, done that.

for all others going through the ungo blues, i have found the audiovox prestige aps-996 to be a reliable two way alarm/rs. and cost is lower than the ungo aswell. in fact, i have found that almost all of audiovox/prestige products are very reliable. for the price, they can't be beat.
