What are your guys' opinions on clifford alarm systems, specifically the Intelliguards? My friends have them and they swear that its one of the best alarm systems. I'm thinking bout getting a car alarm and I'd like to get a few opinions on the difference between the intelliguards, matrix and other alarm companies such as viper or aladdin. Thnx guys

I have the Ace 7500 with all the trimmings. It definitely has the best technology on the market. Remote range sucks. Only recently was there a window control unit that could match the features on the Smartwindows 4. They require way too many fuses, and want you to send all of them to the battery. Because of this, I have between 8 and 10 fuse holders at my battery just for the alarm. The buttons on the remote are way to easy to push. I have my keys in my pocket and bend over for something and have either my alarm go off, or the alarm disarms. Plus I go through remote batteries about every 4 months. Probably due to the previous problem.

I do want to say that all that technology comes at a cost. I have been having periodic problems with my brain. Every once in a while my starter kill locks up, which is a pain when a normally open circuit is used. Another is my alarm freaks out when the temp ouside gets below freezing. I am going to get it warrantied though.

I have a friend with the exact same alarm I have. He had no problems, until it didn't register his remote. He bought a new remote, and it wouldn't hold the program either. So he bought a new alarm.

But then again my experiences might have been a fluke. And even after all that, I still think I would still buy a Clifford. You can't beat the technology or security.

I don't think i have enough money for an IG 8000 but I did some more research and it seems as though the Concept has the same features as the Intelliguard which puzzles me as to why clifford would make 2 lines with identical features. My main questions is, would there be a difference if I went with the Concept instead of the IG or vice versa?

I have been looking into getting an alarm for a while and Clifford was one of my choices. The other is DEI.
I have called around at shops that sell both and the answer I keep getting over and over is Clifford would be the best alarm out there, but they are unreliable. Most shops I talked to that currently instal Clifford alarms say they are nice, but also recommend DEI (most carried both). A few shops I called used to carry Clifford but stoped and started carrying DEI. One installer told me that Clifford went out of buisness because they tried to put to much into there alarms and they were always having trouble with them. The concepts they come up with are very good, but thats only good if it works.
I suggest you do they same thing I did. Get the numbers of 10 Clifford dealers near where you live and give them a call. See what they have to say. Its important to try to decipher between a sales pitch and the truth though. If you talk to the installers you will most likely get the truth, and the whole truth as they tend to tell you how it is (they have no reason not too). Likwise call some DEI places, see what they have to say.
I think Im going to go with the DEI Viper 550. Its cheap, reliable, and has enough expandability to add what I need on my alarm.

Yea actually I have been locatin clifford dealers around here and trying to talk to them. Thing is I heard from my friends Cliffords are hands down pretty damn reliable yet after recently talking to this shop owner who is pretty honest with me, he told me he stopped carrying clifford because he said if someting goes wrong, he wouldn't really be able to service it even though DEI bought out Clifford. Now i'm pretty worried. I was bent on buying a Clifford IG or Concept but after hearing this, I'm not sure if I want a clifford anymore. I just wonder if that guy was BS'ing me or not. Does anyone know how if its hard to get your clifford serviced?

he is b.s.ing you. i have had stuff serviced by dei, the new owner of clifford, that was not installed by us, torn up, smashed, etc. with no problems at all. look it usually takes twice as long to install the cliffords over the vipers, and a clifford installer has to know what he is doing, unlike the dei which a monkey could be trained to install and it would work forever.

however you will not get the security of the clifford with a viper

send them in via your local authorized dealer, and they will be fixed, 3 months? have you been contemplating or acting on the idea of them getting fixed?

Great thanks a lot guys. Do any of you guys know a great clifford dealer in the souther california area? Preferably Orange County area? Someone I can bargain with and that's a trustworthy installer? About 5-6 of my friends might all buy some cliffords at one time with me so we're looking for a package deal and a competent and honest clifford dealer.

try this guy, he used to work for clifford and now works for dei as the clifford/avital specialists.

alarmgui@aol.com

he is probably the best when it comes to clifford.

Im on my second Clifford. Although the best we sell is the Matrix series. Which is as DEI as anything else they sell. I started witht he Matrix 1 on my last car, and have the Matrix RS2 on my current. Both have been great and havent had a problem with either.
