Has anyone of you guys done a remote start on a 2000 Focus. Viper says it needs a DEI 555u. But most fords need a 555F. The dealership tells me it does not have the imobilizer and that it is a normal key, but the owners manual says it does. So does any one know the correct answer. It will be getting a DEI 552t.
Thanks
Jeremie

well look at the top of the key and see if it has the little door ...if it does then you have a transponder......as far as the 555f goes ...we had to use a 555u on a 2000 taurus becase the 555f didn't work....i did hear ford might goto Codehopping transponders mabey they used it in the 2000's

Yeah it has the door on top, salesmen dont know what they are talking about. When DEI told me I needed the 555u I thought maybe he meant a 555f because the u we use on Jeep Grand Cherokees only. I guess ford is doing something different. I did a 2000 explorer that had the same style key and a 555f worked fine. I guess I will take your word and DEI's. Their tech sheet says nothing about it on it. Thanks for your help.
