Seeking security gurus,
I had a Viper 550ESP installed locally a couple of days ago. Problem is my check engine light comes on now. It did it when it was first installed. They disconnected the battery to reset the onboard CPU and it went away. Well it came back on and I don't know why. I am taking it back to the dealer in a couple of days to see if they can figure it out.

Does anyone know anything about this? Maybe you can give me a heads up on a problem they may not know about. I just hope this won't hurt my truck. I will post whatever they find out also, just to pass the wisdom.

Thanks
Chris

Vehicle is a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500

I have ran into this problem already on the 02 Ram. There is a 3rd ignition circuit that has to be powered up. I can't remember off the top of my head the color but this will solve your problem.

stillwater beat me to it. Some vehicles have second, or even thrid ignition wires that will cause this problem if they are'nt hooked up. Alrms don't have third ignition outputs, so, you'll have to use a relay off the second igniton wire to make this work.

I took it back to the installers and they figured it out. They said exactly what you did but nothing about adding a relay. Works great with no check engine light now.
Thanks!
