I am not a buff on this but yes I do know this can be done in many if not all cases.

Did you have a specific case that you wanted info on? As said above, it usually will work fine.

Let us know what your trying to integrate with what, and we'll see what can be done! I've used many different sensors with different alarms. A clifford omnisensor on an Alpine? controlled by the remote? Yep, done it...

STILL waiting to hear a GOOD pair of HLCD's!!

If it dont fit, force it... if it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway...

does it take alot of hack up wiring to integrate different brands? it can't be plug and play because of connections right. why wouldnt more people do this. combine the best sensors like the omniguard with the best brains?

Depends. Some sensors, like the omniguard (I believe) are adjusted by the brain it's self, and unless you can use pulsed ground or positive to adjust, it becomes impossible to make work right. MOst shock sensors, radar fields, motion sensors, glass breaks, whatever else use a very simple neg trigger, and most if not all alarms allow you to connect a neg trigger to them. The hard part is figuring out how to make adjustments after it's installed.
