Well I am sick and tired of my prestige remote start alarm. LAst week was the final straw when the remote decided not to work for a week and now it works like nothing happened. After 2 years of trouble I am getting a new alarm tomorrow. I am buying a Viper 550 ESP. DO I need the Bitwriter to program it? Also were is a good place to mount the brain in a 94 Ranger, the one I have now is mounted behind the fusebox but I want to conceal this one better. Anyone ever tried out the Car*com yet? It sounds real cool I might have to pick that up too.

well you came to the right spot ...I install 3 or 4 550esp's a week...its a kick ass system with the user as well as the installer in mind...the external relay pack may be a little intimdating but its really simple to install....as far a place for it you could try putting it under the pass. side ...the first place a theif would look would be under the dash ...or if there is enough room behind the radio cavity...

also a often forgoten but very nice place to hide things are behide speaker locations...if room allows.. the bitwriter allows for faster programming but is not needed to program the unit....all programming options are accessable thru the valet switch....its a little complicated at first but the viper 550 has about 30 programmmable features so....

if you have any questions ...feel free to drop me a line...

car com is a very nice peice ....the only catch is there is like a "PAGER" fee every month....a small price to pay if your car is stolen or keys locked inside ...just pick up the phone punch in a few numbers and BOOM doors are unlocked or starter disable kicks in the next time the vehical shuts down and the lights and siren go crazy....very cool idea

Alright well I got it installed today, but something insn't right. My radio does not come on when the truck is remote started, but when I turn the key it comes on. It really isn't a big deal, Idon't have to remember to turn the radio down at night, but I don't want to fry sonmething. There was 2 wires for the starter, accesory and another one same colors. I only hooked one of each up to the relay pack. It starts and runs alright. I love the relay pack. You can actually hide the brain without a huge bundle of starting wires going to it. I am going to try and tackle the programming tomorrow. All of this is on a 94 Ranger x-cab Also I am putting a remote start Valet system in my dad 98 Ranger tomorrow. Any hints? I got the wirring codes for both vehicles from the Directed Electronics wirring program.

Ryan,it is very rare that we installers fire up the vehicles accesory wire with remote start. Unless it is necessary to the vehicles function then it's deemed not required.
The only starter module that I know of that has the ability without addition of full vehicle control is the Clifford IntelliStart 4 which has on board relays for Ign1/2, Heater1/2, Accesory, Start.

I really like the valet start option on the viper. Also the remote start isn't doing me much good this week blower motor on the heater went out yesterday! I was a REALLY COLD drive home sunday night at like 12:00 am! oh well just bought a new moter and the old one Won't come out of the place!!! oh well i will force it out!!!

I use to have a Audiovox Prestige aps-750 in my truck, and it fired up the acc. wire. I hooked the Viper up the same. If I don't really need it then I won't worry much about it. What all does the acc. wire in my 94 Ranger control? The wipers and the radio are all I found out. Also When I remote start it and then get in and take off, the led will flash slowly like it is passive arming or something. How do I disable that and what is the features name?
