Remember the phrase "you get what you pay for"...Well it's true.
Tell you what, ask what happens if your dome light doesn't work? I can tell you...the alarm doesn't trigger when the door is opened. This alarm relies on current sensing to trigger. This is not a reliable means of trigger. Good alarms take several hours to install minimum. They also hardwire to the door pin switch circuit.
See, current sensing is the alarms ability to detect a sudden drain on the battery, like when a door is opened, and the dome light comes on. Like I stated, what happens when the dome light doesn't come on for some reason. A good alarm will have current sensing, as a backup method of trigger, not the primary method.

I've seen the self contained unit.....it takes four seconds to install, and I laughed my ass off when I saw it. basically, all the theif has to do it break into your door, open your hood, pick up the alarm and disconnect the 12v from it....which is an alligator clip....like I said, I was laughing my ass off...
the viper300esp is a pretty good unit.. It'll do what you need it to.
don't try to skimp on the alarm side of things, because everything is installation, and spending a little more now, can save you spending alot more later on windows, new equipment, or god-forbid, a new car.....
keep in mind what you're trying to protect.

I wouldn't recommend the Bulldog unit. I have installed a few remote starters of theirs and had problems with them. I will not install another Bulldog product.
