i have a pos 88 topaz that i am temporarily installing a sytem into, i want to mount the 6x9's in the rear without cutting another hole, because i will need to replace the stock 5x7's when i sell the car. i was thinking of mounting them up from the trunk and using foam or something to surround them preventing the metal from rubbing on them. please respond, thanks

I could be wrong, but I thought Metra produced rear deck 5x7 to 6x9 adapter risers. I thought I saw some lying around the shop the other day.

Make some thick spacers from wood so it clears the hole and only the magnet goes through..

We used to always mount 6x9's in 5x7 holes.(In my Car Audio Shop)..Just mount them from the bottom with short stingers into the rear deck and there is plenty of hole for the 6x9 sound to get through. Back in 88 there were very few 5x7's available...
