I finally got a set of Q-form kickpanels for my car and I really want to get more midbass out of the 5 1/4s. What can I do?

Well, you can fiberglass and dynamat the insides of your qforms, then, seal the open side of them, and, if you have t/s specs, see if they'd work well ported. Other than that, you could try different mids, or, build a set of custom kick panels that allow the correct airspace for your particular woofers.

STILL waiting to hear a GOOD pair of HLCD's!!

If it dont fit, force it... if it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway...

Don't know what vehicle or midbasses your using, but I had the same problem with a 92 ranger, q-forms and BA pro 5.4's. I never really solved the problem, I had 2 layers of dynamat, and ended up fiberglasing the rears to get an enclusure. The enclosure helped with power handling, but can't say it did alot for midbass, maybe a little. This truck I plan on midbasses in the doors, good luck!!

They are Q-form kickpanels for an 89 camaro. The speakers are MTX 5 1/4 Thunderpro components. I plan on fiberglassing the kickpanel to make it more ridgid. I have the ability to port them outside the car if needed. would a box building program work for midrange speakers like that?

you could simply add a dedicated mid-bass woofer to you door locations, this way your 5.25" speaker would not have to strain so much, and the upper range would probably sound better if you were not sqeezing the 5's for mid bass

lower your mid high pass X point. make sure there are no leaks or gaps that would cause the front wave and the rear wave to meet and cancel.
run them rom about 65hz up. youll notice a huge difference.
