A friend of mine is redesigning his amp rack and he has a few questions that he would like for me to post for everyone's opinions and thoughts. He is thinking of running a sealed amp enclosure in his '96 Blazer. He has the enclosure pretty much designed. His main question involves the fans... How many fans? He was thinking 4 total, 2 in and 2 out. But he also wondered where to run the ducts for the fans. Just to the outside of the car? Any tips would greatly be appreciated. Thanks for all of your help.

I would suggest NOT venting the amps to atmosphere. Problem? Moisture. Instead, by doing as he planned, 2 in, 2 out, on opposite sides of the rack, all should be fine. ANY air movement over an amplifier is better than NO air movement over an amplifier.

If it dont fit, force it... if it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway...

i dont know where i the car he's putting them, but tapping into A/C ducts is always good, as long as you have some ablility to close the duct when the heat is on. jsut be sure the air is flowing in and out, and dont try to route the air miles from the rack.

Hey guys..thanks for the tips. I really appreciate it and my friend does as well. The rack is going on the floor of his trunk and he thinks that doing the AC ducts would be a little too complicated for him and I agree. We both have been into car steroes for as long as we have known each other, about 8 years. But he just wants somehting simple to keep the air circulating around the amps so they won't fry. Thanks again.

i was also thinking of putting fans across my amp. i was gonna buy like the small ones from radio shack. my question is what do i wire them off of for their power source? it must be impossible to do that off the power cable to the amp, i'm stumped.

Use a relay. Wire your deck remote to 85, ground 86, run a power wire from your amp B+ to 87 and go to the fans off 30.
