Was wondering if anyone on this post has experience with, or is using, these drivers?

I have a set of the 5.25's and had some questions about my proposed set-up, specifically x-over issues.

If anyone has experience with them let me know and I'll post the questions.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers!

Blu

You have Macrom or Morel Integra's? Thought that Morel made the Integras.

Looks like PPI's new coax.

Auto Sound & Security reviewed the Macroms last year sometime, said that they sound evey good from what I remember.

Hi Winslow,

I have the 5.25 Macrom Integra's (I think it is called I5) they are made by Morel. I don't know if they still make them or if they have discontinued the line.

Anyway, they can be used as supplied, or you can cut the jumper wire to bypass the internal x-over, and bi-amp them using an external x-over - I want to do this but have a couple questions that I want to get clarified before I do so.

Do you recall which issue of A.S&S the review was in? I'd be curious to see if I could find a back issue.

Cheers!

I have a set of the Macrom I-2.60's in my CRX and they sound wonderful. I too have had the same question about the biwiring options available, but I know that the woofer is 4 ohm and the tweet is 8 ohm, so I haven't done anything about a better crossover in these yet. The crossover point on the built in one is 3000Hz. If anyone knows about an external crossover that has around a 3K crossover, selectable tweeter attenuation, at least 12dB slopes, and accomodates the two different impedences, then let us know how to make our coaxials sound better. Thanks. Oh, BTW the AS&S issue is the Sep '97 one that has the Macroms.

Hey there Thewhiz,

Thanks for the info! I read in a tech brochure that the I5's were crossed over @ 3khz with a built in 6db x-over. In the manual that comes with the speakers, it shows bi-wiring as an option with a minimum x-over frequency of 3khz - they did not mention that the tweets impedance is 8ohms!

I was planning on running these speakers off my Soundstream Reference 705s, using the built in x-overs (12db/oct) to run the 2 mids and 2 tweets off their own channels (the amp is a 5 channel amp) and I'm sure that this will work well - the x-overs are variable up to 4khz for the high pass. I guess what I'm trying to determine is whether this is going to be my best option.

Thanks for the info on the A.S&S issue - I'll try dig it up!

Anyone out there that can shed a little more light on this?

Cheers!
