Audiophyle, is your list above in order? Your first choice would be Oz, second JL, third Eclipse, forth a/d/s/? Just curious. Wasn't clear because your numbers match the numbers on the original list.

Oh, forgot about Exacts. They were nice when they first came out. How about RF Audiophyles, anyone still have those?

W6s are nice, especially matched with a PPI or better amp. Hrm, XMax for SQ?....cool, never thought of using theem in that application.

Always liked Infinity Kappa and Batas!! Polks are too bad, just never been a huge fan.

Heard a 100 years of good things about Oz, but no-one near me sells them ....same with the Eclipse Alumninums and Alumapro .

Oh, did Kenwood put out an SQ sub? I thought they did the HQ and SPL sub, but couldn't remember if they ever did an SQ series sub?!

Polk used to be my favorite subs. They used to make the MM1025, which worked almost perfectly in a 1.25f3 box. That was when it was cool that your subs f3 was like 33Hz, now, my Oz's f3 is 18Hz...

I noticed that no one said anything about the Alpine DDDrives. I'm curious, I never heard that sub, but I looks really cool in pictures. I like that blue face.

Anyone actually hear them?

I noticed that everyone is pretty high on Oz subs.

Which is their best SQ 12 inch sub?
1) The BFB 12
2) The BFB 12SL or
3) The Oz-300L

I have a pair of the rockford audiophyle 10 from the first year they came out, with the flat dust cover, I never really got them to sound the way I needed them to. I used the small box that was recommended and experimented with a few others but never really got the output or the SQ I was looking for, that was when I made the leap to the IDW-15, would still rank it as the best sub I've ever heard.

Anybody remember the RF Haffler line of subwoofers? I bought 2 Haffler 10s in a ported box off a friend to get me started in car audio about 5 years ago. Those speakers weren't very expensive ($89 a piece new) but had amazing accuracy and cleaness in their output. I finally had one give out and have been chasing that elusive sound ever since!!

btw, the JL10W1's aren't bad for sq, but I am switching to CrystalCMP10's when I save up the cash.

Darkacura I have seen and heard the Alpine DDDrive woofers. They sound great and also deliver good SPL. A co-worker of mine first started using a set during the 1997 USAC season, in his blue Chevy Blazer(you might have seen it at Finals that year) He is currently working on his new system (in a blue 98 S10) which should be at USAC finals. Keep a eye out for it, he will be happy to let you listen.

I heard a set of the DDDrive 12"s in a Canadian Alpine demo vehicle. They sounded pretty good considering they were squeezed under the rear seats of a Chevy extended cab 1/2 ton with no modifications to the seats. They were fairly tight but not much for extension. Probably due to limited box size.

Apparently I am the only one that has had the honor to listen to the new Diamond Motorsport aluminum (nicknamed the "Eclipse Killer"). These subs are gorgeous in sound and looks!!! And at quite a bit less than the Eclipse. Take one for a test drive. You will fall in love!!! Sound quality with the ability to straight up beat if you want them to!!! The Griz has spoken.

IDQ - sounds better than everything I've heard except the Illusions
Those are two I own or owned and have compared side by side
Others I have heard in stores or cars
ADS dont know model # new aluminum 10"
IDW 15

Griz do you have any of those diamonds on the demo board, if so I might make a trip to Omaha

jc2, unfortunately I don't have any hooked up as of yet, but I am working on it. We have been so busy trying to get the van and a couple other customer cars ready for finals and there are a total of 4 of us that run 2 locations. Quite the busy folks we are!!! Just keep watching for me out here on the UBB and ask me in a month. It is worth it. These subs are the best sounding sub I've dealt with especially at high volume levels. The things just don't give up!!!

I have to admit....those Diamond woofers are the Fu%$in Sh@t.....to take a line away from the Wreckin Crew. There's just something about a woofer that makes your insides get that certain erie feeling. Now, there aren't many subjects that I'll agree with "Shorty the Pimp" aka Griz on, but this is one of them. These woofers bring back a true audiophile type sound and combine it with a woofer you can throw MAD power at and just pound down the street. Best of all it comes with the classic 4 ohm single voice coils. The thing has no cone break up no matter how hard you push it and its just rock solid throughout its operating range. The demo car Diamond had at I A S C A finals had a pair of 10's or 12's with a Xtant 1000D on them combined with a couple of the Hex component sets and they just had it wide open jamming for an hour or so at a time. It was one of the cleanest systems I have ever heard from a distance....kinda like the old cruising scene. Come up and check 'em out though....well worth the visit.

Shermbot,

I forgot about Velodyne, how silly of me!! Their servo-driven drivers are extremely nice in home and mobile applications!

Hrm, ever wonder about Paradigm, Paramount, BM, M&K, Sunfire, and other such godly hi-end home subs in a car? Hrm, maybe not the right environment for them, but damn, it'd be nice to find out .

I actually tried the Miller&Kreisel powered sub in a car once. I could never find an inverter that would keep up with it's built in amp though...
