This is gonna be a kinda long explaination so please bare with me.
I have a hisssing sound coming from my speakers, especially tweeters.
This is my set up:
I am using my car's stock head unit. Its a double din Bose radio with CD and Cassette. I know it is better to have an aftermarket HU, but that isn't important right now.
I haven't changed it because my car is a "99 Acura TL with navigation. The head unit is an odd shape to begin with and if I installed an aftermarket head unit I would lose the verbal commands from the navigation system so I'm kinda stuck with the factory head.
If the voulume is all the way down there is no hiss, but as soon as I turn the volume up to one notch (out of 30) the hiss starts. Once the volume is up to 6 or 7 notches I cant hear the hiss but I know it is there.
I have played with the amp's gain a lot and the hiss will not go away.
I currently have an old hi/low converter connected to the head unit running to a clarion EQ.
I am going to get an Alpine PXA-H600 Digital Phase Processor to replace the Clarion EQ and I was wondering if this would help get rid of the hiss. Should I get a better hi/low converter or may be a special Bose converter.
Also I was wondering if a noise filter like the Alpine PRE-H900 BBE Noise Cancellation system could help get rid of the hiss?

I would try to contract with a local electronics shop to see if they can get you line level output out of that head unit. It is made by Alpine, and should be capable of pretty decent line outs. Even if you only get a .5v out from the deck, you can run that into a line driver to get it up to snuff. You will find it's going to be next to impossible to get rid of the hiss any other way. My only suggestions to try would be a ground for the converter, or a different ground, or a different inverter. You phase processor will probably offer no help.

If it dont fit, force it... if it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway...

Audiophyle, Alpine makes two products that sound like what you recomend. One is called a speaker to RCA interface adaptor and the other is a speaker to line level converter. Which one should I get?
Is this how it would be installed?
Bose HU ---> Alpine speaker to line level converter ----> Hi/low converter ----> Sound processor? Or do I leave out the hi/low?
