Is it safe to use Zapco amplifiers on ID subs(idmax,idv.3)? What would be the next bext thing since LinearPower 4.1HVS to feed idmax subs?

Perfectly safe to use a Zapco amp on ID Subs (how could it not be? )
Next best thing--an amplifier with the power you want, the features that you want, and that fits in the space that you have. I'd also stick to the bigger name brands, and class a/b power.
I'm using Brax amps with my ID speakers, and they are awesome as well.

Apparently any amp that isn't the JBL BP1200.1 is good to go, I still don't understand why they say not to use that amp Posts: 986 | From: Detroit, MI | Registered: Nov 2004

they dont like the jbl because it is jbl and it's d class. the idmax doesnt have much of a gap so there isnt any room for compromise- if the amp clips there goes the sub. i had an idiot installer blow my idmax with my xtant 1000/1. it's not hard to blow an idmax with a d class amp

I had mine on one for a year and a half and then sold the rig to some other guy who has not had a single issue. It wasn't exaclty even a good d-class at that, MTX Which I am willing to bet is pretty much identical to an xtant 1000/1

I think if you research you will find that isn't the reason at all.
I think the final settlement was that the JBL is not a good amp for it as it will make well over 1300 watts, I've seen some bench at over 1400 watts. Mine benched at 1325 or 1375 can't remember and that was before clipping, you could easily push that thing to over 1500 w/out clearly audible clipping, and many people who don't know what they are doing will go well beyond that. And that, the max won't take.

I had a 9.0XD on a Max 12 v3 a while back, and it sounded awesome. The Max does bring out the sound of a class D amp, but it still made for a downright rude combination. Granted, my gain level never went past half, with the subwoofer output on my deck kept flat.
Currently have 2 Max 12's on 2 6.0X's and I love it.
