I had my install put in a few months ago and spent a GREAT deal of money on it. I honestly can't tell if it sounds right since I have nothing to compare it too and my hearing in my left ear isn't as good as my right. Right now it sounds right side dominated .. the right kickpanels are firing on axis and left are not.. I'd enter an SQ event if I had one nearby but I don't think there will be one till some time next year. My friends are still mostly stock so of course my system makes there's look stupid. Question is of course, if I wanted to get some good/true advice from a knowledgable person on how well the setup is done, how it sounds (imaging, soundstage, tonality) and on what area's might be improved.. where should I go? Any SQ'ers live near Minneapolis? Would a shop be willing to take a listen? My installer of course wouldn't tell me if he did a crappy job.. and honestly I hated the guy before and even more now that my EQ and three of my amps need repaired.. he also went over budget and put a dent in my hood from the new alt he installed sitting too high. (blah sorry for the rant, I just don't want to deal with him anymore) .. any suggestions?

Best thing I can recommend is to head to a live concert- preferrably jazz or orchestra..... Then try to make your system sound like the live performance..

I am going to school in UP MI (Houghton) and am located approximately 6 hours driving time away from you here, but I also come from and spend time in northwest MN around Thief River Falls which is around 6 hours driving time away from the twin cities. If you could get to either of these locations I could be of service. I also may be able to meet you half way in the case where I'll be down there for something anyways.

::cringe:: I'd do it without thinking twice but don't think my wife would go for it. Though, Duluth appears to be in between the two (if that's what you meant by half way) and that'd be like a two hour drive for me. that might be possible for me but I don't want to be an inconvenience so don't consider it if it is.

Not only would I drive the full 6 hours but I'd buy dinner for him as well. Also bring a pad of paper. If your serious, he's a guy you should pay a visit to. Send the wife to the spa for the day.
