How much do you want to spend?
I like IDQ's in 1.2 cuft boxes for SQ
and if you have some extra cash
Illusion Audio Nd-12 in 1.2 cu ft boxes
either one will take at least 400 watts

I have always like the sound of the Eclipse Aluminum subs, detailed and clean, and with enough power, they can pound.

Go with Focal Utopia or Crystal CMPs if you are after SQ. Now if you want subs that just hit hard, RF, ID, Orion, JL, + alot more will do just fine.

It all depends on how much you want to spend. Illusion Audio's ND12s sound great, Diamond Audio Carbon 12s sound great, and for less cost, you can use JL W6 and it sounds great. Others that I've heard about but not personally listened to are the Crystal CMP, Focal's lineup, and the Aluminum Eclipses.
Whichever sub you end up choosing, make sure you design and build a good solid enclosure for them so you get the best performance out of them. You don't want to spend lotsa cash on a pair of nice subs and have it sound like mud cuz you wanted to save 50 bucks on your enclosure.

2 12s that slam that I have personally listened to? Orion HCCA subs, Eclipse 8812, Pioneer IMPP, Solobaric 12 are all very good. (I never thought that I'd actually say pioneer till I heard those new subs.)

When I was at sound advice in sarasota I had one of the dudes power up their biggest extant to power the subs. I then listened to them with Bass Mekanik. All I can say is the Eclipses looked SOOOOOO COOL with that huge excursion when they were hitting at 20hz!

Image Dynamic IDQ 12's kick ass.. I love mine and they have lots of output as well in a 2.38 cubic foot sealed enclosure with a seperate chamber per woofer

If you have the money the Alumapro Alchemies are one of the best combo subs around if you ask me....I like them even better than the CMP.

The alchemies have a slightly longer throw than the IDQ's and I'm sure they handle as much if not more power. Alumapro reccomends a .85 cubic foot enclosure.....damn small especially compared to the CMP. I just replaced my IDQ's with a pair of alchs....we'll see who wins out.

I agree with many of the aforementioned subs. One that I did not see was the Infinity Perfect. It has a great blend of SQ and SPL IMO.

Actualy, everyone is going to tell you that their favorite sub is the one that sounds the best. The way you will get the best sound is to have the box professionaly designed so you can see the response you are going to get with the optimum enclosure. Also an amp with a high dampening factor will really help.
Any ?'s,just ask.

Ya all of the above would be decent. Also look at kove's KLDs the 15"s impressed the hell out of me. They play remarkably low, and have a high output.

I see no one has put this brand down but i fount that the cerwin vega vega series has very nice sq sor the spl it can put out i would try 2 10" in the correct enclosure that is factory spcs. for the sub. I know people will dissagree with me but this is my thought it is as good as anyone elses.

i will also reply saying cerwin-vega!! the vega series subs are loud with lots of power and also tight at the same time!! i have two vega series 12s and its mainly a db drag car but i have noticed that they are tight as well!!

also if you have money to burn look into getting one cerwin-vega stroker 12!! A few years back a novice competitor name Dustin Hanks tore up his class with one 12" stroker!! He even got enough points to go the 1997 IASCA world finals in dallas. It did great with sq and SPL!! and heres the shocker he only had the JBL GTS 600 (600wts) on it, and it still hammered hard!! Sure you will need a huge box with a huge port and lots of money, but dude if you want major bass and sq look into the stroker 12!! its not just made for SPL trust me i can prove it, just go into the USAC website www.soundoff.org and look for these two names, aaron roberts and jay enge, which both ran/run a stroker 15 in their sq veichles and did very well 97, 98 and 99 (jay only in 99, aaron quit sq temporarally for db drag with team pure sound). Between the two they have had many 1st places and best of shows!! Jay has the spl record between them with a 140.2 with one woofer sq!! aarons best was a 139.7 with one woofer sq!! these was incredible numbers with just one woofer and in sq comps in the 97, and 98 years!!

Later,
Luin
