Is this them:

Looking at the Revelators, the 5 1/4 may work for me also. I am thinking about mid in kickpanel and tweeter in a-pillar. So I need a mid that will play high enough for that to work. The 7 will give me up to 5000hz and the 5 1/4 will work up to 6000hz. We may have found a winner. Now to find a place to listen to them.

What tweeter are you using with them? (or planning to use).

Andy

Yeah I understand you on those IDQ's. I just wish they didn't look so cheap.

Andy, the only Revelator mids are the 5s and the 7s, and the 7s came out not too long ago.

I have bet that you have heard a set of 5" Revelators and might not even knew it...guess what 5s are in Markey's kickpanels? And according to the article, all KCG folks use them as well. Markey maybe using a SS tweeter as well, I'll have to look and try to figure it out.

Jeremy is using Vifa XT25s with the Revelators I think...though he should have ponied up the money for the SS ring tweeters- they are only about $400 ea.

Probably not any shops in the SE that carry the SS drivers. You might could get them from Parts Express, but I have always had great service with the folks at Speaker City (www.speakercity.com). Madisound would be the last place I would buy the speakers from.

Did you say only $400 each? [Razz]

I thought the KCG used SS, but I didn't realize there wasn't a 7 before. I have pretty much decided on the 7. If they don't work out, you will see them for sale on here, sounddomain, and Elite [Big Grin]

I'm trying to find Morel Supremo tweeters to go with them, but the only quote I have received so far is for exactly MSRP. I can't believe they are not available cheaper. If I can find them cheaper (I can't bring myself to pay MSRP for anthing) looks like my system will be:

Clarion 1060 with Changer
Rane ME-60
JL Audio 300/2 (times 6)
JL Audio 8IB4's
Scan-Speak 7's
Morel Supremo's

If the JL's crossover doesn't work for me, I will add a Rane Crossover. God willing should be ready by SBN or shortly thereafter.

All subject to change with the rule changes of IASCA. [Wink]

I really do appreciate yours, JC2 and Brian Gowan's help. This has been the hardest time selecting components I have ever had.

Andy

If the 7s play anything like the 5s...I would think they could play most of the way down to 20 hertz and still have some balls to them.

Speakercity has the 2904/700000 for $450 ea...and that probably is lower than Madisound's price. And the Rev 7s coming in at a nice $224 ea. Email JC2 when he gets back in the country...he might be able to get them cheaper. I can't get SS and Morel or I would help you out.

I haven't seen the Supremos anywhere yet.

From what I'm hearing, the rules might stay the same for IASCA next year...but drop RTA, add Ult SQ to Pro Street, and maybe do SPL on the dash. But, I hear 3 stories every other day too.

Andy,

Email me about the Scan-Speaks. Don't pay 225 for them.

Right now I have a temporary setup to listen to them and try out a bunch of mids. This is just for a home speaker, the revs may also find a home in my car but I'm not sure yet.

They have a 4" version out. Check out SS's web site. It just happens to be 4 ohms also.

I'm running three 8" Eclipse Aluminums strapped to a JBLbp600.1. Here's a pic:

My first enclosure (I ditched this setup though...ended up not working out because I fudged on some fiberglassing)

The second enclosure which is complete and sounds awesome (no pics yet, I want to finish the trim panels and carpeting before I take any) has about 1 cube of volume, including the displacement of all three subs. Pics soon. I still need to hide all of the wires, yada yada, lots of work before I can update with pics.

Those Alpines really pound in the right enclosure. I had mine in a sealed pointed down about an inch and a half from the ground. Sounds crazy but you had to be there. Enjoy.

I used the kicker L7s at first, they did real well, but I am now switching over to Boston Acoustics, I like the way they sound better.
