I was at a shop today and I told the guy that my tweeters are kinda hot so I'm looking for a new pair, some that are a lil smoother. He told me that he does not sell "just tweeters because they will not match up well with my oz mids. Do I need to have my tweets and mids match for the best sq possible or is he full of crap??

Yes you can mix and match, the trick is mainly in the crossover, and material used for dome material of the tweeter. Once you decide on soft or hard dome, you can make a simple crossover @ 6dB/Oct, using a 0.47uf (Micro Farad) Capacitor. (and it doesn't matter if you connect it in line with the positive or the negative wire of the tweeter) Several manufacturers make separate tweeters available, from RF, to Alpine, Pioneer, among several more.

As above. I would add that in your x-over network, you may need to add some attenuation in case your tweets are still to hot for those mids, however, most manufacturers supply this with they're high end components in the crossovers. It can be difficult to find a good match for your particular drivers, but when you do, you'll know it almost immediately, and it will be well worth the time and effort!!

If it dont fit, force it... if it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway...

I have a vehicle with PG Zero point tweets and RF fnq mids, works well. just make sure the xovers don't put the new driver out of their rec. freq range.
