No. You cannot get a virus on the Interface box. However, our software products (Termlab.exe and Instacal) are vunerable to viruses just like any other application.

In your case, you should simplify your system as much as possible before troubleshooting. Disconnect everything from your USB ports except for the Term-LAB Interface box. This includes printers, mouse, light-tree interface devices, USB-to-Serial converter cables, etc.

1. Reboot your computer.
2. Run Instacal (with the Interface box disconnected). Allow Instacl to REMOVE all of the previous configurations for the Interface boxes and the Minilab light-tree controllers. Exit Instacal.
3. Attach the Interface box.
4. Run Instacal. Instacal should detect the Interface box and assign it as Board #1. If Instacal doesn't detect the Interface box, there is a problem with the USB system on your computer. Please refer to the USB troubleshooting document. Close Instacal.
5. Right-Click on the Term-LAB desktop shortcut and select OPEN. Please allow up to 30 seconds or more for Term-LAB to launch. If you try running multiple instances of the program (by not waiting long enough), then you may get a message stating that the interface box needs activation (when it has already been activated.)
6. Test Term-LAB.
7. Close Term-LAB and plug in ONE Minilab interface. Run Instacal and verify that the unit is detected. It should be assigned board #2.
8. Repeat this process for the second Minilab unit. It should be assigned board #3.

It is important to note that the Minilab light tree interface units will not work with a USB hub. They must be plugged directly into a USB port on the computer.

9. Run Term-LAB and reconfigure the light tree devices as per the light-tree instructions.
10. Once you have verified correct operation, exit Term-LAB.
11. Attach the USB to Serial port adapter cable.
12. Open device manager and verify that this adapter is configured as a Com Port between 1 and 4. Note the assigned port.
13. Run Term-LAB and configure the Leaderboard display. Use the Com Port noted above. Only select Leaderboard 1. Press Test to verify proper operation of the Leaderboard.

Please refer to the other troubleshooting documents on this forum for additional information.

What I was refering too is I recently had my computer worked on to delete some virus's.

According to the computer tech, they were all gone.

At the show when I ran Termlab and hooked up the interface box, I had a message from my virus checker program that I had a virus.

I just thought it might be attached to the interface box and wasn't detected during the service because the interface box wasn't hooked up during the scan.
