This is a wierd one. Windows XP pro, 2.8gHz, 1gb ram.
I followed the directions to a T.
Installed Instacal first Then installed termlab Then let instacal recognize and add termlab meter. Close instacal. Open TermLab and try to set the K-factor and BOOM, the program slows WAAAAAAAY down and wont respond to any input for a few minutes.
System monitor shows that CPU usage is 2% and 111mb of ram used so the system isn't overly taxed...
USB chipsets are compatible I just checked.
Just swapped out a new USB cable that I KNOW is working perfectly, so that's not it either.
The only thing I can think of are damaged USB drivers, but that shouldn't slow the program itself down if the program is not actively metering....

Is your computer connected to the internet?
If so unplug your connection and it will work fine..... Been meaning to ask Wayne about that but have forgotten until you just brought it up...Maybe he can let us know why.

On some of the early versions of Term-LAB, the system would "look" to see if the dBTV server was on-line. If you were connected to the Internet and the dBTV server was off-line, the meter would act "sluggish" for a while. This problem was resolved earlier this year. Now, Term-LAB won't look for the server unless you click on the Enable Network checkbox.
To assist further, we need to know what type of Term-LAB you are running as well as the version of the software. (Select Help / About to see the version number.) Also, the OS and the speed of your computer might help as well.
