Ok, I'll post this since someone else won't take the time to do it....

Insacal installs fine from the disk.
Termlab installs fine from the disk.

When you plug the USB into the computer it is not able to see it. For instance it's not popping up a window with "New Hardware Found". When Instacal is run it does not see the device either. We went through the device manager and and went through all the steps it suggested on troubleshooting, nothing helped. It does say the Unknown Device though. If you try and run the Termlab it pops up a window saying No Drivers Found I believe. I'll have to check that last one again.

We tried this on 2 different computers, both running XP. We also installed a new USB cable and that was not the problem either.

Thanks in advance.

we had that problem it turned out to be a bad USB cable. We have gone through a few cables. They work fine with other devices but for some reason they don't work on the termlab for too long(but that may be the cheap computer we use)

We have tried 3 different cables with no luck. Also the USB ports are working fine as we can plug any other device in them and they are recognized right away.

Ok, here is the whole deal from start to finish on what has happened.

Had a computer with Windows ME on it. Tried getting Termlab to run on it. Everything loaded up correctly. The status light and everything came on with it hooked to ME. However when you would try and run Termlab the computer would give a "Error '7', Not Enough Memory". A call was given to Wayne and he said the Error was due to ME and if installed XP everything would be fine.

So we installed Windows XP on the machine. When I tried to pull up Termlab then, nothing would work. So I uninstalled Instacal and Termlab using the Add/Remove Programs. I then reinstalled Instacal and Termlab. However when it was on the 3rd step the computer would not see the USB connection.

I tried multiple ways of with power to the box and without. Tried multiple USB cables and even different USB ports, everything with the same result.

Once I got tired of messing with that computer, thinking that possibly something went wrong when I upgraded it to XP, I tried to install everything on my personal computer that came with XP. Once again I did every step it told me to in the Manual. When I got to the 3rd step I got the same results as before with the other computer.

With both computers I tried the troubleshooting that is available. Both computers were seeing a Unknown Device. The Status line was on back when I tried to run Termlab on ME with the old computer. However now the Status light will not come on at all.

This is where I stand at now.

1. Uninstall Instacal and Termlab.
2. Open the device manager and remove the unknown device. Unplug the Term-LAB USB box from the computer.
3. Reboot the computer.
4. Open the device manager and make sure that all of the universal serial bus controllers are working properly (no ? or !).
5. Make sure you are not using a wireless mouse.
6. Install Instacal from the CD that came with the Term-LAB USB system. It must be that CD. If you are using an old CD that came with a NET system, then the drivers for the USB system may not be available. After the installation is complete, you MUST reboot your computer.
7. Install Term-LAB. Make sure you don't get any error messages.
8. Attach the interface box to the computer. Windows should launch the New Hardware Found wizard. Allow windows to install the drivers Automatically. When Windows tells you that "the driver has not passed windows logo testing", make sure that you allow the driver to be installed anyway. The Green Status LED should stay illuminated on the interface box.
9. Run Instacal. Instacal will detect and configure the Interface box. Exit Instacal.
10. Run Term-LAB.

Thanks Wayne. We were using a wireless mouse on one of the computers.

I will go back through every step you listed and let you know what we find out.

I would uninstall Instacal and then download the current version of Instacal and re-install it.

If this doesn't fix the problem, you will need to send the USB box back for repair.
